Battlefield Earth wasn't nearly as bad as the critics who had never read the book said it was. It also wasn't very good. It basically failed to capture the gripping plotline or epic feel of the book and your left with a mildly entertaining action sci-fi flick with a couple of plot holes. I give it a 6.
